The Venta is a motorized bioclimatic pergola: an aluminum structure with a roof of adjustable louvers that are driven by an electric motor and controlled by remote. One motor and one linkage move the whole roof, in every size up to 19' deep. Warm-white LED lighting is integrated into the frame profile.
Open the louvers for shade and airflow, or close them for a sealed, rain-tight roof. The Venta ships as a kit you can assemble yourself, or Rinova can deliver it as a complete Turnkey Project with design, permits and installation.
A bioclimatic pergola regulates the climate underneath it mechanically, without using energy for cooling. Tilting the aluminum louvers opens a controlled air gap, so warm air escapes upward instead of building up under the roof. Closing them creates a solid roof that keeps out rain and wind.
The same structure does two opposite jobs, and the remote switches between them in seconds.
A standard patio cover has a fixed roof, usually solid, glass or polycarbonate. It keeps the rain off but can't control the sun, so many owners add a shade later. A louvered roof adjusts on its own: full sun, filtered light, ventilation, or a closed rain-tight roof, all without a second shading layer.
The one advantage of a glass roof is that it lets more daylight through in mid-winter.
Both use the same base structure: the same frame, the same 5.3" × 5.3" posts and profiles with 0.08" (2.0 mm) walls, and the same drainage. The difference is the roof and how you operate it.
The Venta is motorized. It has heavier 0.067" (1.7 mm) louvers spaced 6.7" apart, integrated dimmable LED lighting, and ten sizes up to 13' × 19'. The Terra is hand-cranked, needs no power for the roof, has optional LED lighting and comes in three 10'-wide sizes.
Choose the Venta if you'll adjust the roof every day and want built-in lighting. Choose the Terra if you want a simple system that doesn't need power, or the lowest starting price. A Terra can't be converted to a motor later.
Yes. When the aluminum louvers close fully they interlock, and a continuous EPDM gasket seals the joints, forming a closed, rain-tight roof. Rainwater doesn't spill over the edge. It's collected in the louvers, carried along the perimeter frame and drained through concealed downpipes inside the front posts.
On wall-mounted installations, the seal between the house wall and the pergola is made on site. Rinova's crew does this on installed projects.
Water is channeled through the louvers and frame to the front posts, and drains out at ground level at the base of those posts. No connection to an existing drain system is included, so plan a gravel bed, a channel drain or a tie-in to a downspout at those points. Center posts are structural only and don't drain.
For heavy rain on freestanding units, an extra outlet can be opened at each of the two rear posts by opening the gasket at the marked point, as shown in the manual. Water then drops freely at those posts, so plan a gravel bed or drain there too. This option is free, can be done during or after assembly, and isn't available on wall-mounted units.
The posts are 5.3" × 5.3" (135 × 135 mm) with a 0.08" (2.0 mm) wall. The Venta's louvers are 0.067" (1.7 mm) thick and spaced 6.7" (17 cm) apart.
Material thickness and profile design largely decide stiffness and service life, which makes them the most useful numbers when comparing aluminum pergolas.
6063-T6 aluminum, the architectural standard for its mix of strength, corrosion resistance and clean extrusion. The profiles aren't off-the-shelf shapes: they were engineered for this system and are extruded in the manufacturer's own plant.
Every profile is powder-coated to 70–100 µm (about 2.8–3.9 mils) using TIGER Coatings architectural powders designed for long-term outdoor exposure. Coating is done in a Qualicoat-certified plant.
Qualicoat is an independent European quality label for powder-coated architectural aluminum. It sets requirements for pretreatment, coating thickness, adhesion, impact resistance and accelerated weathering.
Aluminum doesn't rust like steel. It forms a stable oxide layer instead. How the color holds up over the years depends mainly on the coating, which is why the coating standard matters.
No repainting, oiling or yearly sealing is needed; an occasional wash is enough. Near the coast, rinse off salt spray a few times a year.
Freestanding, the Venta ranges from about 768 lb (10' × 13') to 1,303 lb (13' × 19'). Wall-mounted versions are lighter because one side of posts is replaced by wall brackets. Around 95% of the weight is aluminum.
Along with wall thickness, weight is one of the most telling figures when you compare pergola systems. See the size table under Sizes & Dimensions.
Venta wind resistance is 110 MPH across sizes and configurations when properly installed and anchored. Snow-load ratings vary by size and center-post configuration.
| Size | Snow load, standard | Snow load with optional center posts | Wind resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10' × 13' | 60 psf | — | 110 MPH |
| 10' × 16' | 36 psf | 130 psf | 110 MPH |
| 10' × 19' | 89 psf | — | 110 MPH |
| 11.5' × 13' | 51 psf | — | 110 MPH |
| 11.5' × 16' | 30 psf | 110 psf | 110 MPH |
| 11.5' × 19' | 75 psf | — | 110 MPH |
| 13' × 13' | 44 psf | — | 110 MPH |
| 13' × 16' | 26 psf | 73 psf | 110 MPH |
| 13' × 19' | 65 psf | — | 110 MPH |
On the 19' sizes, center posts are part of the standard structure. On the 16' sizes, optional center posts raise the snow load. Wind resistance remains 110 MPH.
On Rinova-installed projects, site-specific wind exposure, footings, anchoring and wall attachment are engineered separately with PE-stamped calculations to meet local code.
Load capacity depends mostly on how far the beams span and where the posts are. On the 16'-deep sizes, a reinforced beam spans the full depth without a center post. Adding the optional center posts shortens that span and raises the snow rating: 10' × 16' from 36 to 130 psf, 11.5' × 16' from 30 to 110 psf and 13' × 16' from 26 to 73 psf.
On the 19' sizes, center posts are standard. That's why one size's snow rating can't be applied to another size.
The Venta is rated for wind resistance up to 110 MPH across sizes and configurations when properly installed and anchored.
Every Rinova-installed project is also engineered for the design wind requirements in your city, with site-specific PE-stamped calculations. Open the louvers before high winds, since the roof has no manual override if the power fails.
The listed size is the covered roof area, and the kit actually comes out slightly larger than nominal. What also matters is the clear span between posts, which is what you use to plan furniture and walkways.

*Freestanding kit weight. Wall-mounted versions are lighter.
On the 19'-deep sizes, center posts are standard: two on freestanding units, one on wall-mounted units. They split each long side into two bays. The footprint comes only in these standard sizes; custom widths and depths aren't available, but a custom height is (see Colors & Options). The Dimensions & Drawings section above shows the exact drawing for each size.
The standard clear height under the beam is 92 1/2" (7' 8 1/2"). The overall height of the structure is 99 3/16" (8' 3 3/16"), and the highest point with the louvers fully open is 105 9/16" (8' 9 9/16").
Before ordering, check door and window openings, roof overhangs and any height limits in your city or HOA rules. The height can't be changed after installation.
A freestanding Venta stands on its own posts and can go anywhere on the patio. On a wall-mounted Venta, wall brackets replace the posts on the house side, so the pergola attaches directly to the building and takes up less patio space. On the 19' sizes, center posts are standard: two freestanding, one wall-mounted.
Both versions cost the same. Wall mounting needs a load-bearing wall, and the wall-to-pergola seal is made on site.
Every Venta with a 19' projection (10' × 19', 11.5' × 19' and 13' × 19') has center posts as standard: two on freestanding units, one on wall-mounted units. By default they split each long side into two equal bays, and they're structural only (they don't drain).
A different position has to be agreed before you order, because it changes the spans and the structural check. The published loads apply to the standard layout. With an offset post, order side screens after assembly, once the real bay widths can be measured. With centered posts, screens can be ordered together with the pergola.
Yes. Optional center posts are available for 10' × 16', 11.5' × 16' and 13' × 16': one for a wall-mounted unit, two for freestanding. They raise the snow rating (for example, 10' × 16' goes from 36 to 130 psf). Without them, the standard snow rating applies. Wind resistance is 110 MPH either way.
Ask us when you request a quote and we'll add them to your order.
Yes. Two Venta units can be installed side by side. This can't be ordered through the standard options on this page, because the joint, shared posts and drainage have to be matched to your site.
Send us the area dimensions, the mounting situation and a photo or sketch, and we'll work out the layout and price. You can also request a quote for a Turnkey Project.
Three finishes, all at the same price: Anthracite (RAL 7016), White (RAL 9010), or a two-tone Anthracite frame with White louvers (RAL 7016 / RAL 9010). Every finish is TIGER powder coat applied in a Qualicoat-certified plant.
Yes. The standard clear height under the beam is 92 1/2" (7' 8 1/2"). Choose the Individual interior height option on this page to set any clear height from 79" (6' 7") to 110" (9' 2") for a flat $1,000, whatever the size.
The height has to be specified when you order, because the posts are cut to length at the factory and can't be changed later.
The roof is motorized: open, tilt or close the louvers from the included remote. On new orders, the same remote also runs the integrated LED lighting, the solar side screens and the radiant heater, so one handset controls the whole patio. Manual screens are operated by hand and need no control.
The Venta also supports smart-home control through the Tuya app, so you can run the roof and lighting from your phone.
Yes, for the final connection. The pergola connects to your household power, and the included low-voltage controller runs the motor and LEDs at 24 V DC. The internal wiring is pre-installed with plug connectors, and the motor comes with a 23 ft (7 m) lead.
The final connection to the house circuit should be made by a licensed electrician, as code requires. On Rinova-installed projects, our crew coordinates this.
The 23 ft motor lead gives you flexibility in where the connection point goes, and the motor position can be chosen on site to suit the direction you want the louvers to open. Plan the connection point together with where the pergola will stand.
Run the supply line before assembly and leave it accessible. Adding access through a post afterwards is much more work.
Very quiet. While the louvers move you'll hear a soft mechanical sound for a few seconds; once they reach position, the motor is silent. It won't interrupt a normal conversation at the table.
The louvers stay in their last position. The Venta has no manual override, so the roof can't be moved without power. Before a forecast storm or a long absence, open the louvers in advance, and keep a spare CR2032 battery for the remote.
If you want a roof that never depends on power, the hand-cranked Terra is the alternative.
Yes. The integrated LED lighting is dimmable and switchable from the same remote as the louvers.
The integrated LEDs are 3000 K warm white, built into the frame profile. RGB color-changing isn't offered. The louvers and lighting share one remote, and the Venta connects to smart-home systems through the Tuya app, so you can run the roof and lights from your phone.
The remote (model AC127L) takes one 3 V CR2032 coin cell, which lasts about two to three years in normal use. Swapping it at the start of each season keeps the remote reliable.
Both. The Venta is designed as a self-assembly kit: the connections are CNC-machined and prepared, and no special tools are needed. You do need basic building skills, a level and prepared base, and enough helpers. It's a load-bearing outdoor structure, so assemble it carefully.
Rinova Pergola is also a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1116353). We install throughout Orange County, LA County and Riverside County with our own crew, including the permit submittal and PE-stamped drawings, as a complete Turnkey Project. request a quote for installed pricing.
Plan on three people. Sizes up to 13' deep take about a day, and the 16' and 19' sizes about a day and a half, because the longer beams are harder to position. Smaller sizes can be built by two people, but lifting the roof frame is much more awkward.
Prepare the base separately, before the delivery date. Add a licensed electrician for the final connection.
Among others: a drill with masonry bits, a ratchet and socket set, hex keys, a level (ideally 5 ft or longer), a tape measure, a rubber mallet, ladders, safety glasses and gloves. For concrete or pavers you'll also need a hammer drill. The exact tool list for your configuration is at the start of the installation manual.
The base must be level, load-bearing and permanently stable. Suitable bases include concrete slabs of adequate thickness, pavers laid on a proper sub-base, tile or porcelain on concrete, and wood or composite decks with a load-bearing substructure.
Loose gravel, freshly filled soil and deck boards without a load-bearing substructure are not suitable. The full base and footing requirements are in the installation manual. On installed projects, Rinova engineers the footings for your site.
Every delivery includes an illustrated installation manual, and step-by-step videos are in our installation guide & video library. The guides are organized by model, size, mounting and base type, so use the one that exactly matches your configuration.
In most Orange County cities, yes. Patio covers over 120 sq ft, structures attached to the house, and structures over 12 feet tall typically need a permit, and requirements vary by city. Rinova prepares the permit submittal and supplies PE-stamped engineered drawings on installed projects.
See the Orange County permit guide.
Clean the surfaces once or twice a year with clean water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse with clear water. In late fall, clear leaves out of the drainage channels so water can always run off freely. No painting, oiling or yearly sealing is needed.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, solvents, and strongly alkaline or acidic products, since these can damage the coating. Don't aim a pressure washer at coated surfaces, the LED profile, the motor housing, or straight into the drainage channels.
No. The Venta is built to stay up all year. The standard snow rating is 26–89 psf depending on size, and the 16' sizes can be upgraded with optional center posts. Always go by the snow rating for your size and post layout.
Before heavy snow, open the louvers in time so snow falls through the roof, and never exceed the rated snow load. If you have to clear snow, use only plastic or wooden tools, never hard or sharp metal ones.
Venta wind resistance is 110 MPH. Snow-load requirements still depend on your chosen size, post layout, elevation and local conditions.
Compare your local requirements with the applicable snow-load value and ask us before ordering. Wind, anchoring and seismic design are covered by the site-specific engineering on Rinova-installed projects.
Open them in heavy snow and in storms. In light or moderate snow they can stay closed, as long as the rated snow load isn't exceeded. In a storm, open louvers also reduce the closed surface the wind acts on. Because the Venta has no manual override, set this position before the weather arrives.
Manual and solar retractable side screens, the radiant heater and the custom height option. LED lighting is already built in.
When ordering screens, check the exact model name, because screens for the Venta are different items from those for the Terra.
Most accessories can be added later. Screens and the heater mount at points already built into the profiles, and on new orders they run from the same remote. The exception is custom height, since the posts are cut to length at the factory.
Accessories ordered later ship separately, and shipping charges may apply. On a 19' size with an offset center post, order screens after installation, once the real bay widths can be measured.
Yes. Center posts can be retrofitted to the 10' × 16', 11.5' × 16' and 13' × 16': one for a wall-mounted unit, two for freestanding. The higher snow ratings (130, 110 and 73 psf respectively) apply only with the complete center-post setup. Wind resistance remains 110 MPH.
Contact us with your size and mounting type, and we'll arrange the right retrofit kit and how it's installed.
In practice, yes, if you want to noticeably warm the space in the cooler months. One radiant heater covers roughly 160 sq ft, and that figure assumes closed sides; with a fully open pergola, much of the heat escapes sideways. Plan the heater and side screens together for year-round use.
The kit runs $5,949–$12,249 depending on size. Fully installed with permits in Orange County, most Venta Turnkey Projects run $10,000–$25,000 depending on size, accessories and site.
Financing through HFS Financial starts from about $49/month, with fixed rates from 7.80% (8.08% APR), $0 down and a soft credit check. See financing or request a quote.
The Venta has a lifetime warranty on the structure and paint, a 10-year warranty on moving parts, and a 5-year warranty on motor/electrical components. Spare parts remain available by part number after the warranty ends.
