The homeowners wanted adjustable shade over their patio with a clean, modern look that matched the home — and they wanted the HOA approval handled for them rather than learning the architectural-review process themselves.
Irvine's master-planned neighborhoods have strict HOA architectural standards. A structure that looked out of place, used the wrong color, or arrived without proper drawings could be rejected or delayed.
The design therefore had to satisfy two audiences at once: the homeowners, who wanted usable shade, and the HOA board, which wanted a structure consistent with the community's look.
The Terra uses the same aluminum frame and louver assembly as our motorized Venta, operated by a hand crank instead of a motor — nothing electronic in the roof, and a lower price point.
We designed a Terra louvered aluminum pergola in Anthracite (RAL 7016) to complement the home's exterior. The adjustable louvers let the homeowners control sun and shade throughout the day with a hand crank, and the freestanding layout kept the structure independent of the house.
As with every Rinova Turnkey Project, the paperwork was ours, not the homeowners'. We prepared PE-stamped, permit-ready engineered drawings for this Irvine site — footings, post loads and the structure's wind exposure — and handled the city permit process. Where a homeowners' association is involved, we prepare the architectural submittal and answer the board's questions so the design clears review.
For this project we supplied permit-ready engineered drawings and coordinated the HOA approval directly, so the homeowners did not have to manage the submittal themselves.
Because Rinova sells, engineers and installs under one California contractor license (CSLB #1116353), there was one contract, one schedule and one point of accountability from the first visit to the final walkthrough.
Once approval was in hand, our crew set the footings and installed the freestanding frame and louver assembly. The structure went up as one clean, finished unit that matches the home's trim.
A fully approved, professionally installed pergola that transformed the backyard into a comfortable, shaded outdoor living space — with the low-maintenance durability of powder-coated aluminum.
Every Rinova pergola in this project carries a lifetime warranty on the aluminum structure and powder-coat paint, a 10-year warranty on moving parts, and a 5-year warranty on motors and electrical components — backed by the same company that installed it.

Most HOAs approve louvered aluminum pergolas when the color, size and placement fit the community standards and the submittal includes proper drawings. On every Turnkey Project we prepare that submittal for you and adjust the design if the board asks.
Requirements depend on the city, the size and whether the structure attaches to the house. On every Turnkey Project we check Irvine's rules, prepare the engineered drawings and pull the permit when one is needed — you never deal with the building department yourself.
