Lifetime Structure & Paint

Designed in Germany

100% Aluminum

The Terra is a manual louvered aluminum pergola. A removable hand crank tilts the louvers for sun, filtered shade, airflow or a rain-tight roof, with no motor, wiring or power needed. It comes in three sizes (10' × 10', 10' × 13' and 10' × 16'), freestanding or wall-mounted, with optional LED lighting.

  • Simple and reliable: crank-operated, so it works during a power outage and needs no maintenance.
  • Built for the coast: 6063-T6 aluminum with a Qualicoat-certified powder coat. No rust, rot or repainting.
  • Rain-tight when closed: interlocking louvers with concealed gutters that drain through the posts.
  • Wind resistance: 110 MPH when properly installed and anchored.
  • Warranty: lifetime on the structure and paint, 10 years on moving parts, and 5 years on motor/electrical components.
  • Installed for you, or DIY: Rinova designs, permits and installs across Orange County, LA and Riverside counties (CSLB #1116353). Or buy the kit and build it yourself.

100% Aluminum — No Rust, No Corrosion, Ever

The Terra is built from 100% aircraft-grade 6063-T6 aluminum — not steel, not wood, not a composite. Aluminum simply does not rust. There is no iron to oxidize, so even in harsh coastal salt air it will never rust, corrode, or streak the way steel and iron structures do. That makes the Terra ideal for beachfront and oceanfront homes in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Dana Point, and across coastal Southern California, where salt air destroys wood and corrodes steel within a few seasons.

  • No rust & no corrosion — 100% aluminum has no iron to oxidize, even in salt air
  • Salt-water & coastal proof — engineered to withstand ocean salt spray, marine humidity, and UV
  • No rot, warp, crack, or termites — unlike wood, aluminum is immune to moisture and pests
  • Marine-grade powder coating — a Qualicoat-certified, baked-on finish that resists UV fade, chalking, and salt
  • Lifetime paint & structure warranty — we warrant the powder-coated finish and the aluminum frame for life

While wood pergolas gray, split, and need resealing every 2–3 years — and steel structures rust at the welds and fasteners — the Terra's 100% aluminum frame and powder coat keep it looking new for decades with nothing more than an occasional rinse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Terra rust or corrode near the coast? No. The Terra is built from 100% 6063-T6 aluminum, which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. Combined with a marine-grade, Qualicoat-certified powder coat, it resists salt air, ocean spray, and coastal humidity, making it ideal for beachfront Southern California homes where wood rots and steel corrodes.

Is the Terra really 100% aluminum? Yes. The frame, posts, beams, and louvers are all 6063-T6 aluminum — no steel, no wood, no composite. That is why it never rusts, rots, warps, or attracts termites, and why we back the structure and paint with a lifetime warranty.

Does the powder-coat finish fade or peel? The baked-on, Qualicoat-certified powder coating resists UV fade, chalking, and salt corrosion, and is covered by a lifetime paint warranty. Unlike painted wood or steel, it never needs repainting or resealing.

BEFORE
BEFORE AFTER
The SystemShould I choose the Terra or the Venta?

Both use the same base structure: the same frame, the same 5.3" × 5.3" posts and profiles with 0.08" (2.0 mm) walls, and the same drainage. The difference is the roof and how you operate it.

The Terra is hand-cranked and needs no motor or wiring for the roof. Its louvers are 0.06" (1.5 mm) thick, spaced 5.1" apart, and open up to 115°. The Venta is motorized, with 0.067" (1.7 mm) louvers spaced 6.7" apart, integrated LED lighting, and sizes up to 13' × 19'.

The Terra suits you if you want a simple system that doesn't depend on power, or the lowest starting price. The Venta is the more convenient choice if you'll adjust the roof often and want built-in lighting. A Terra can't be converted to a motor later, because the louver profiles are different.

The SystemIs the roof rain-tight when the louvers are closed?

Yes. When the aluminum louvers close fully they interlock into a closed, rain-tight roof. Rainwater is collected in the louvers, carried along the perimeter frame and drained through concealed downpipes inside the front posts, exactly as on the Venta.

On wall-mounted installations, the seal between the house wall and the pergola is made on site. Rinova's crew does this on installed projects.

Sizes, Heights & DimensionsWhat sizes are available, and what are the actual dimensions?

The Terra comes in three sizes, each freestanding or wall-mounted: 10' × 10', 10' × 13' and 10' × 16'. The listed size is the covered roof area. The clear span between posts is what you use to plan furniture and walkways:

10' × 16'118 1/8" × 200 5/8"107 1/2" × 190"681 lb

*Freestanding kit weight. Wall-mounted versions are lighter.

Custom widths and depths aren't available. A custom height is (see Colors & Options).

Operating the RoofHow does the Terra's hand crank work, and how hard is it to turn?

A removable hand crank tilts the aluminum louvers up to 115°, so you can set exactly how much sun, shade or airflow you get. It turns easily. The effort rises a little with size because more louvers are moving, but every size is designed to be operated comfortably by one adult.

No regular maintenance or lubrication schedule is needed for the crank mechanism.

Operating the RoofWhat happens in a power outage?

Nothing happens to the roof. The Terra has no motor and doesn't depend on power at all to move the louvers, so the crank works during an outage. If you've added the optional LED lighting, only the lights are affected.

InstallationCan I really install the Terra myself, or does Rinova install it?

Both. The Terra is designed as a self-assembly kit: the connections are CNC-machined and prepared, and no special tools are needed. You do need basic building skills, a level and prepared base, and enough helpers. It's easier to install than the Venta because there's no motor position or wiring to plan.

Rinova Pergola is also a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1116353). We install throughout Orange County, LA County and Riverside County with our own crew, including the permit submittal and PE-stamped drawings, as a complete Turnkey Project. request a quote for installed pricing.

InstallationDo I need a building permit for the Terra?

In most Orange County cities, yes. Patio covers over 120 sq ft, structures attached to the house, and structures over 12 feet tall typically need a permit, and requirements vary by city. Rinova prepares the submittal on installed projects and can supply dimensioned drawings and a spec sheet to kit buyers.

See the Orange County permit guide.

Pricing & WarrantyHow much does the Terra cost installed, and is financing available?

The kit runs $4,549–$6,999 depending on size. Fully installed with permits in Orange County, most Terra Turnkey Projects run $8,000–$16,000 depending on size, accessories and site.

Financing through HFS Financial starts from about $37/month, with fixed rates from 7.80% (8.08% APR), $0 down and a soft credit check. See financing or request a quote.

Pricing & WarrantyWhat warranty comes with the Terra?

The Terra has a lifetime warranty on the structure and paint, a 10-year warranty on moving parts, and a 5-year warranty on motor/electrical components. Spare parts remain available by part number after the warranty ends.
